Baleal Happiness Surf House: frequently asked questions
Everything families and surf groups ask before booking: beds, stairs, air conditioning, parking, children and the beach.
Bedrooms and capacity
How many guests can stay at Baleal Happiness Surf House?
Up to 12 guests: 10 in the four bedrooms and 2 on the sofa bed in the games room.
What beds are in each bedroom?
Bedroom 1 has a queen bed and a baby cot. Bedrooms 2 and 3 each have a queen bed. Bedroom 4 has bunk beds with 4 sleeping places. The games room has a sofa bed for 2.
How many bathrooms are there?
Three, each with its own toilet: a shower room on the lower level next to the games room, a shower room on the ground floor and a bathroom with a bathtub on the first floor.
Are there many stairs?
Yes. The house is on four levels, with many stairs. Stair gates are provided for young children. Keep this in mind if someone in your group finds stairs difficult.
Comfort and equipment
Is there air conditioning?
No. The house has ceiling fans, portable fans and blackout blinds.
Is the house comfortable in winter?
Yes. The house has heating and a fireplace in the living room. A family of 8 spent Christmas 2025 here.
What is in the kitchen?
A fridge, freezer, oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, kettle, coffee maker and toaster, with dishes, glasses, pots and pans, oil, salt and pepper. It is equipped for big groups.
Is there a washing machine?
Yes, inside the house. Laundry detergent is not provided, so bring some.
Are bed linen and towels provided?
Yes. Bed linen, towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and a hair dryer are provided.
Is there Wi-Fi?
Yes, the whole house has Wi-Fi.
Families and children
Is the house suitable for babies and young children?
Yes. You will find a baby cot, a travel cot, a baby bath, a high chair, children's cutlery, stair gates and a fully fenced private garden.
What is there for children to do?
The games room on the lower level has table football, darts and arcade games. There are also board games and giant games.
Surf and location
How far is the beach?
Baleal Norte beach is a 5 min walk from the house.
Can we store surfboards and wetsuits?
Yes. The surf entrance lets you rinse and dry wetsuits, store boards and shower before going inside.
How far is Supertubos, where the WSL contest takes place?
Supertubos is 5 min by car. It hosts the MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal, the only European stop of the WSL Championship Tour in 2026. Staying for the contest.
Can we walk to restaurants and shops?
Yes. Cafés, restaurants and the supermarket are within walking distance.
How far is Lisbon airport?
1 h by car. Lisbon is also 1 h away, Peniche centre 5 min and Óbidos 20 min.
Your stay and booking
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out by 11:00. Self check-in with a secure key box.
Where can we park?
Free parking right in front of the house, and in the street.
Are pets allowed?
No. The house is also non-smoking, vaping included.
Can we have a party or an event?
No. Parties and events are not allowed, and quiet hours are from 23:00 to 07:00.
Can we stay for a month or longer?
Yes. Stays of 28 nights and more are welcome, and cleaning can be arranged during your stay.
How much does the house cost per night?
